Instrumentation And Controls Engineer

As a Lead Instrumentation and Controls Engineer, you will be responsible for producing complete I&C design packages for a well-defined power plant. You will work under the direction of the Project Manager and Project Engineer to define and monitor project scope, and effectively supervise multiple engineers and designers. This role requires managing engineering and project budgets, planning work schedules, and assisting in instrument selection for P&ID development.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and manage engineering and project budgets related to the I&C effort.
• Plan work schedules for team members to meet project schedules.
• Provide assistance in instrument selection for P&ID development.
• Conduct I&C engineering calculations using approved procedures and software.
• Assist in control system engineering functions such as HMI graphics design, control logic development, and system configuration.
• Utilize instrumentation design software to catalog information and develop instrument data sheets.
• Develop project-specific I&C equipment specifications based on project scope documents.
• Generate bid tab evaluations and purchase requisitions for specified equipment.
• Review vendor drawings for correctness and contract requirements.
• Coordinate major I&C vendors and act as primary liaison.
• Check the work of other Engineering/Design Team members.
• Provide training to Engineers, Designers, and Drafters as needed.
• Temporarily assume responsibilities of the Chief Engineer in their absence.
• Support Business Development and the Vice President of Engineering in cost estimating.
• Provide project instrumentation and controls support to Construction and Start-Up personnel.

Essential Skills

• 9+ years of experience in Instrumentation.
• P.E. license is required.
• Proficiency in PLC programming and instrumentation controls.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience with SmartPlant Instrumentation and AutoCAD software packages is preferred.
• Experience in controls engineering, automation, and programming.
• Strong understanding of contracts and purchase orders.

Work Environment

This position offers the flexibility of remote work, with a preference for candidates in the West Coast timezone. However, it is open to candidates across the entire country and TN-Visa/Status holders. Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $100000.00 - $180000.00/yr. 401k, vesting, stock options, flexible work environment
