Installation Engineer / Engineering Technician

This onsite Installation Engineer / Engineering Technician role supports an engineering team within a semiconductor cleanroom environment. The position focuses on tool installation, troubleshooting, and maintenance activities, specifically involving FOUPs and Overhead Hoist (OHB) systems. The role is hands-on and well-suited for individuals with strong mechanical aptitude, technical troubleshooting abilities, and experience working in cleanroom or semiconductor facilities. The schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with occasional overtime based on project needs.

Responsibilities:

  • Support engineers with onsite activities related to tool installation, setup, and integration.
  • Assist with FOUP and Overhead Hoist (OHB) equipment installation, integration, and movement within the cleanroom.
  • Perform basic troubleshooting and diagnostics on equipment issues using appropriate test equipment and tools.
  • Provide support for preventative maintenance and repairs on semiconductor equipment and related systems.
  • Work closely with engineering teams to ensure tools are installed correctly, calibrated as needed, and operating according to specifications.
  • Follow detailed standard operating procedures (SOPs), work instructions, and safety protocols in a cleanroom environment.
  • Assist with equipment movement and positioning, including tasks that may involve heavy lifting or the use of mechanical tools and equipment such as scissor lifts.
  • Use oscilloscopes, multimeters, and other test equipment to support electrical and mechanical troubleshooting.
  • Interpret and work from schematics, diagrams, and technical documentation to install, test, and repair equipment.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of work performed, including installation records, maintenance logs, and troubleshooting reports.
  • Communicate updates on progress, issues, and resolutions clearly and promptly to the engineering team and other stakeholders.
  • Support field service-style activities related to installation, repair, and service of semiconductor tools and associated systems.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA and site-specific safety requirements while performing all tasks.

Essential Skills:

  • 3+ years of proven ability to follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) and work in a structured, process-driven environment.
  • 3+ years of mechanical or technical troubleshooting experience, including AC/DC systems and tool installation.
  • 3+ years of experience working in a cleanroom setting, including adherence to gowning requirements.
  • Hands-on experience with troubleshooting and installing equipment in an industrial or semiconductor environment.
  • Ability to use oscilloscopes, multimeters, and other test equipment for diagnostics and testing.
  • Experience with AC/DC motor control and basic electrical installation and repair.
  • Proficiency in using hand tools and mechanical tools for assembly, installation, and maintenance.
  • Ability to read and interpret schematics and technical drawings.
  • Experience working with semiconductor equipment, including FOUPs and OHB systems, or similar automated material handling systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform preventative maintenance and basic repairs on complex equipment.
  • Strong adherence to safety protocols, including OSHA-related practices and cleanroom safety procedures.
  • Effective communication skills to document work and provide clear status updates.

Additional Skills & Qualifications:

  • Semiconductor industry experience, particularly in a fabrication (Fab) environment.
  • Active or previous Fab badge indicating prior authorization to work in a semiconductor facility.
  • OSHA certification or formal safety training.
  • Experience operating scissor lifts or similar mechanical lifting equipment.
  • Experience supporting tool installations or equipment maintenance projects in a cleanroom environment.
  • Experience in field service, including installation, repair, and service of industrial or semiconductor tools.
  • Familiarity with cleanroom protocols, including gowning, contamination control, and working in a controlled environment.
  • Comfort working with test equipment such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, and other diagnostic tools.

Work Environment:

The role is fully onsite within a semiconductor cleanroom environment. The standard schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with overtime occasionally required based on project demands and communicated in advance. Work takes place in a highly controlled cleanroom setting where strict adherence to safety and process protocols is essential. Gowning is required, and team members must follow all cleanroom procedures to maintain contamination control. The position involves regular use of hand tools, test equipment such as oscilloscopes and multimeters, and may include operating scissor lifts or other mechanical lifting devices. The environment is collaborative, with close interaction with engineering teams to support tool installation, integration, troubleshooting, and maintenance activities.

This is a Contract position based out of Phoenix, AZ.

Pay and Benefits:

The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $35.00/hr.
