Software Engineer

We are seeking a Software Engineer to support the development of containerization across large Naval Submarine subsystems. This technology creates a common, open-architecture system-of-systems electronic design aboard submarines to promote interoperability during joint operations with integrated fighting forces. The successful candidate will utilize their engineering expertise to write secure code for communications that integrate Kubernetes with a private cloud for edge communication.

Responsibilities

• Perform software integration tasks.
• Ensure a Linux system works effectively with a private cloud, including testing, debugging code, and working with containers and orchestrators.
• Design, develop, and deploy containers using Kubernetes in a Linux OS environment, optimizing system performance, security, and scalability.
• Develop Kubernetes rulesets for scheduling and implement interprocess communication within containers, optimizing GPU performance.

Essential Skills

• BS in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field and 8+ years of experience.
• Proficient in Java and JavaScript.
• Experience with development, integration, and troubleshooting in a Linux Operating System.
• Experience designing and building containers with Kubernetes for efficient deployment and management.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience with GPU optimization within containers.
• Proficiency with RKE2 and KubeVIP.
• Experience with Agile development methodologies.
• Experience with version control systems such as Git or SVN.
• Understanding of interprocess communication within containers and pod networking.
• Proficiency with Kubernetes rulesets for scheduling.
• Knowledge of designing containers to be highly available.

Work Environment

The position is located at a 2000+ person site in Manassas, VA. The work schedule is flexible with options such as 4/10s, 9/80, or a 5-day/40-hour week. The work environment offers opportunities to advance technology knowledge through various programs and skill development.

This is a full time / long term position based out of Manassas, Virginia.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $70.00 - $90.00/hr.
