Hardware Engineer - Space Sensors

Join an innovative space robotics program, contributing to the development of a lunar-orbiting space station. This station will function as a laboratory and a stepping stone for future Mars missions. You will be part of a team responsible for the vision system and sensor interfaces for a robotic assembly, enabling operators from various space agencies to remotely perform maintenance tasks from Earth.

Responsibilities

• Participate in complex projects involving the creation of various products or tools, including sensors for spacecraft navigation, data processing platforms, vision systems, and LIDAR technologies.
• Design and test circuit cards for both analog and digital circuits.
• Help develop new camera and sensor architectures.
• Create and update design documentation.
• Perform and document engineering analyses, including derating, worst-case scenarios, reliability, radiation, EMI/EMC, FMECA, and power budgeting.
• Investigate and document hardware issues and failures.
• Execute acceptance tests on engineering and flight hardware.
• Guide and support less experienced team members.
• Contribute to project estimation efforts.
• Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.

Essential Skills

1. 5-20 years of hardware design experience in both analog and digital circuits.
2. Involvement in multiple phases of the hardware design cycle, including requirements, design, prototyping, testing & validation, manufacturing, etc.
3. Experience in developing electronics for high-reliability applications (defense, aerospace, medical, space, nuclear).
4. Must be able to obtain a Reliability security clearance and CGP.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Familiarity with power supply design.
• Familiarity with Allegro for board layout.
• Familiarity with radiation analysis and EEE-INST-002.
• Familiarity with EMI/EMC compliance issues.
• Familiarity with signal and power integrity analysis.
• Familiarity with FPGA implementation onto a PCB.
• Familiarity with Design For Manufacturing methods.

Work Environment

4 days on site. Join a hardware team of 15 engineers, with core working hours from 9 AM to 4:30 PM. Benefit from long-term employment opportunities

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Ottawa, ON.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $50.00 - $70.00/hr.
