Geotechnical Engineer

We are seeking a Geotechnical Engineer with experience in geotechnical investigations and construction inspections. The ideal candidate will have a B.S in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering and at least three years of relevant experience. This role involves both field and office work, with significant opportunities for career growth and development.

Responsibilities

  • Design earth structures, deep foundations, support of excavation, and underpinning systems.
  • Assist project managers with field work coordination and project management support.
  • Scope and oversee geotechnical investigations and construction projects.
  • Periodically perform inspections of geotechnical construction as needed.
  • Coordinate investigations and assist in geotechnical report writing.
  • Prepare standard logs and field forms, including drilling and test pit logs, field investigation dailies, and chain of custody logs.

Essential Skills

  • 3+ years of experience in geotechnical investigations and construction inspections.
  • BS in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering.
  • Experience with investigation and field work coordination.
  • Field experience in earthwork, driven and drilled pile construction, footings subgrade and backfill inspection, and retaining wall design/construction.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
  • Comfortable with field work.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience in geotechnical analysis and design.
  • Ability to prepare geotechnical reports and documentation.
  • Strong communication and project management skills.

Work Environment

  • The role involves 50-75% fieldwork, with the day starting at 7 AM. Fieldwork may require being outside in various weather conditions.
  • When not in the field, the engineer will work in the office.
  • Typically, fieldwork is scheduled for a few days to a week at a time, followed by office work to balance workload and reduce burnout.
  • The team consists of 17 members, with opportunities for upward growth. Benefits include work-from-home options (2 days a week), 2 weeks of PTO (with additional PTO for more experienced employees), free lunch every Wednesday and free breakfast every Thursday, and a $500 home office stipend.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $70000.00 - $92000.00/yr.
