Field Service Technician

As a Field Service Technician, you will perform a variety of administrative and onsite duties to ensure the proper functioning of equipment and adherence to standards. You will support different departments, ensuring all equipment is calibrated and functioning before and after onsite events. Your role will involve reporting deficiencies and results using various tools and systems.

Responsibilities

  • Support other departments in ensuring calibration standards and equipment functionality.
  • Maintain professionalism as a team leader and representative.
  • Participate in testing instrumentation and control devices using portable test equipment according to approved procedures and safety regulations.
  • Calibrate, maintain, troubleshoot, or repair electrical/mechanical instruments or testing equipment.
  • Inspect electrical project work and environmental sensors for quality and proper operation.
  • Set up or operate test equipment to evaluate performance under simulated conditions.
  • Provide technical expertise in resolving electrical/mechanical deficiencies.
  • Verify part dimensions or clearances using precision measuring instruments.
  • Maintain standards in a highly regulated, process-driven environment.
  • Complete any other related duties as needed.

Essential Skills

  • Proficiency in electrical, mechanical, troubleshooting, calibration, and instrument testing.
  • Knowledge of calibration fundamentals, test equipment operating procedures, and applicable formulas.
  • Understanding of basic electrical theory, verifying ground, testing/frisking electrical equipment.
  • Familiarity with safety and quality standards.
  • Competence in basic arithmetic, algebra 2, and geometry.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in English.
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Demonstrated integrity, attention to detail, and strong analytical skills.
  • Proficiency with computers and software such as Microsoft Word and Excel.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Willingness and ability to travel up to 60% of the time, including domestically and internationally during weekends, off hours, and on holidays.

Work Environment

This role involves onsite work from 8 AM to 5 PM with travel requirements up to 60% of the time. The work environment is dynamic and involves adherence to a structured and regulated process.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Chesapeake, VA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $28.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment. Benefits are subject to change and may be subject to specific elections, plan, or program terms.
