Field Service Technician
The Field Service Technician is responsible for the installation, inspection, testing, maintenance, and repair of Electronic Security Systems. The technician works both independently and as part of a team to complete service calls, troubleshoot system issues, and provide customer support. Attention to detail, strong problem-solving skills, and a commitment to safety are essential for success in this role.
Responsibilities:
- Install and program CCTV, Access, Locks, Intercom, Fire, and security systems.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues with CCTV, Access, Locks, Intercom, Fire, and security systems.
- Identify risks to customers and provide effective solutions.
- Conduct routine preventative maintenance on alarm systems.
- Monitor inventory of service parts.
- Install all Low Voltage Systems and hardware.
- Provide the main office with scheduling and materials on a weekly basis and upon request from direct Supervisor.
- Supervise and guide low voltage installation crews.
- Conduct quality control checks and inspections before project turnover.
- Train and mentor junior technicians and apprentices.
- Coordinate daily tasks and ensure alignment with project schedules.
- Enforce job site safety protocols (PPE, ladders, lifts, lockout/tagout).
Essential Skills:
- Minimum of 2 years of on-the-job experience.
- Ability to handle physical workload and lift 50 pounds.
- Previous experience in security installation, maintenance, wire running, carpenter, IT, Access, CCTV, or other related fields.
- Familiarity with hand and power tools.
- Strong troubleshooting and critical thinking skills.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Ability to differentiate colors for proper wiring and terminations.
- Ability to work with various hand and power tools in a safe manner.
- Ability to drive and travel various distances to multiple sites with your own vehicle.
- Ability to stand for most of your working day.
- Ability to climb ladders and perform work while working at heights.
- Excellent communication skills are required (both written and verbal).
- Must have a positive attitude and team player mentality.
- Well organized and detail oriented.
Additional Skills & Qualifications:
- OSHA 30 and SST certification would be useful upfront but will need to have prior to 90-day review.
- Possesses the desire and ability to learn about new products.
Work Environment:
Work is done 100% onsite at customer locations. Technicians will work both independently and as part of a team to complete service calls. This position involves traveling in your own vehicle to customer sites and to the office to retrieve equipment and materials for each job. Work is mainly at customer sites throughout the Tri-State area, with potential travel to different worksite locations as needed. Candidates are eligible for tolls, gas, and all work-related expenses for work out of the state of New Jersey.
Pay and Benefits:
The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $36.00/hr.
