Field Service Engineer

As a Field Service Engineer, you will initiate, install, troubleshoot, and optimize customer systems using advanced Direct Digital Control (DDC) technology. You will serve as a local contact for technical issues, leading field operations and providing effective solutions for complex system issues. Your role will involve delivering turnkey projects on a small to medium scale, ensuring the proper operation of systems, including controls, sensors, and software. Additionally, you will load software, configure trends, alarms, and reports, manage time effectively to ensure customer satisfaction, and offer site-specific training to owners/operators on the complete system.

Responsibilities

  • Initiate, install, troubleshoot, and optimize customer systems utilizing advanced Direct Digital Control (DDC) technology.
  • Serve as local contact for technical issues and lead field operations.
  • Offer effective solutions for increasingly complex system issues.
  • Provide turnkey project delivery on small to medium projects.
  • Ensure proper operation of systems, including controls, sensors, and software.
  • Load software, configure trends, alarms, and reports.
  • Implement time management strategies to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Communicate and document the status and details of projects for the customer.
  • Provide site-specific training to owners/operators on the complete system.

Essential Skills

  • 2+ years of experience in Building Automation Systems, Controls, HVAC, or a technical field.
  • Experience with building automation software, such as WebCTRL.
  • Basic knowledge of navigating and integrating into a variety of building automation systems.
  • Advanced knowledge of TCP/IP networks, including wireless technology.
  • Ability to communicate technical information to a non-technical audience.
  • Proficiency in English verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365 applications.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience with PID Loops, BACnet, and MODbus.
  • Installation and troubleshooting of automation and controls systems.
  • Knowledge of lighting, fire safety, data center maintenance, and repair.
  • Experience in field service, project management, and use of hand tools.

Work Environment

The work environment includes job sites at the Switch Data Center and other locations. Typical working hours are from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM with a 40-hour work week. Personal protective equipment is provided, and a company truck is available. For work sites located 80 miles or further, hotel accommodation and food expenses are covered. Some projects may be located on the outskirts of Arizona.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $34.00 - $45.00/hr.
