Field Service Engineer

We are seeking a dedicated Field Service Engineer to install and service milling machinery. This position involves extensive travel, operating out of Schaumburg, IL, and provides technical training upon machine startup.

Responsibilities:

  • Install, service, and perform basic training on milling machinery.
  • Troubleshoot electronic and mechanical problems using basic testing equipment such as multimeters or oscilloscopes.
  • Travel to customer and dealer facilities by car or airplane, approximately 60% of the time.
  • Conduct on-site intake of customer complaints and communicate with both customers and internal management regarding technical analysis and determination, approximately 30% of the time.
  • Document all work done in a legible and technically sound manner, approximately 5% of the time.
  • Submit service and expense reports for reimbursement, approximately 5% of the time.

Essential Skills:

  • Field Service experience
  • Capital Machinery Service expertise
  • Machine Installation and Maintenance
  • Proficiency with CNC Machinery
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints
  • Experience with axis mills
  • Troubleshooting skills
  • Electrical and Mechanical knowledge

Additional Skills & Qualifications:

  • Associate's Degree or equivalent experience required
  • Working knowledge of machine electronics and mechanics
  • Familiarity with CAD/CAM systems, materials, tooling, and end mills
  • Experience with Heidenhain or Siemens controllers preferred
  • Excellent customer service skills with integrity and ethics
  • Self-motivated and able to work with little supervision
  • Ability to handle stressful situations and solve production issues
  • Detail-oriented with a technical curiosity

Work Environment:

The role operates primarily in a traveling capacity, up to 90% of the time. Normal work hours are expected to be 40 hours per week but may vary based on customer demand. The company provides hotel and airfare bookings, and car rental/mileage reimbursement at GSA rates. Pay and Benefits:

The pay range for this position is $39.00 - $45.00/hr.
