Field Engineer
This position plays a key role in ensuring the safe, efficient, and high-quality delivery of products and services to our customers. Working in both office and site-based construction environments, you will leverage your technical expertise and interpersonal skills to support Field Engineers, Project Managers, Superintendents, and Trade Supervisors in meeting contractual commitments.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with project teams to achieve deliverables.
- Apply technical knowledge to support construction activities.
- Assist in planning, scheduling, and quality assurance processes.
- Contribute to problem-solving and decision-making in a fast-paced environment.
Essential Skills:
- Undergraduate degree in Engineering or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
- Minimum of 5 years in a related field.
- Strong understanding of quality assurance and quality control principles.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and work effectively under pressure.
- Excellent communication skills (verbal and written).
- Practical experience in boiler and piping systems, structural steel, tanks, and vessels, and rotating and stationary equipment.
- Proficiency in estimating, sketching, and interpreting drawings/specifications.
- Ability to read and develop schedules using relevant software.
- Knowledge of mechanical industrial construction and maintenance.
- Competent in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
- Committed to continuous learning and professional development.
- Physically able to work indoors and outdoors year-round, climb ladders, and wear required PPE.
Additional Skills & Qualifications:
- Experience working on industrial projects for mechanical systems such as piping, furnaces, and boilers.
- Industrial construction experience in sectors like oil & gas and mining.
- Experience handling engineering drawings for coordinating site-work.
- Experience with material takeoffs and quantity surveying.
- Trades experience is acceptable; engineering degree not required.
- Local to New Brunswick. Mechanical engineering degree is a plus.
Work Environment:
- The work schedule consists of four 10-hour days per week (4x10) with the potential transition to five 10-hour days (5x10).
- The role is on-site with the Pulp and Paper project team in Saint John. The industrial work environment involves a Nexgen furnace rebuild and clean, manageable conditions at Canport LNG, with primarily pipe racks and mills for pulp and paper.
- The contract duration is 24 months.
Job Type & Location:
- This is a Contract position based out of Saint John, NB.
- Pay range for this position is $38.00 - $51.00/hr.
- This is a fully onsite position in Saint John, NB.
