Finite Element Analysis Engineer

This role involves performing structural, durability, and manufacturing finite element analyses on various components, sub-systems, and seat systems. You will provide technical support to both internal and external customers and collaborate with multiple engineering teams to enhance and optimize seating design. Additionally, you will work alongside internal CAE groups to develop new simulation methodologies and capabilities.

Responsibilities

  • Perform structural, durability, and manufacturing finite element analyses on component, sub-system, and seat systems.
  • Provide technical support to internal and external customers.
  • Work with design, product, test, and manufacturing engineers to improve and optimize seating design.
  • Collaborate with internal CAE groups to develop new simulation methodologies and capabilities.

Essential Skills

  • Strong knowledge of structural analysis with 1-5 years of experience solving practical engineering problems.
  • Expertise using commercial software such as HyperWorks, LS-DYNA, or Nastran for FEA/simulations.
  • Experience using preprocessing tools to construct or modify structural FEA models.
  • Strong English verbal and written communication skills.
  • Good presentation skills.
  • Experience with material and structure experimental testing methods.
  • A desire for continuous learning.
  • Self-motivated and a good team player.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Masters Degree or PhD in Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • LS-DYNA experience.

Work Environment

This role involves working in a group of four engineers. The work schedule is onsite from Monday to Thursday, with Fridays fully remote. This position offers the opportunity to be part of a large global Tier 1 automotive supplier.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Rochester Hills, MI.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $50.00 - $74.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
