Entry Level R&D Lab Technician

The Lab Technician performs a variety of laboratory tests and tasks using both conventional and computerized equipment. The role involves preparing and painting panels, determining chemical and physical characteristics of materials, and setting up and operating laboratory instruments. Responsibilities include formulating paints, conducting documentation and data analysis, as well as running routine tests such as physical tests on paints and wet chemistry tests like viscosity, pH, and titrations. The position requires teamwork and collaboration with a larger team.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform laboratory tests and work using conventional and computerized machines.
  • Prepare and paint panels in accordance with standards.
  • Determine chemical and physical characteristics of materials.
  • Set up, readjust, and operate laboratory equipment and instruments.
  • Formulate paints and perform necessary documentation and data analysis.
  • Conduct routine physical and wet chemistry tests including viscosity, pH, and titrations.
  • Pour and mix paints as required.
  • Collaborate with a larger team of professionals.

Essential Skills:

  • Experience with laboratory work, chemistry, and wet chemistry techniques.
  • Familiarity with titration and basic lab quality check techniques.
  • Understanding of quality control and GMP practices.
  • Knowledge in chemical and coating processes.

Additional Skills & Qualifications:

  • Degree in a relevant field is preferred but not required.
  • Coatings background is highly preferred but not mandatory for strong candidates.
  • Coursework in Organic Chemistry is a plus.
  • Attention to detail and professionalism.
  • Basic lab knowledge and ability to perform basic lab tests.

Work Environment:

The position is based in a laboratory setting and involves working in a team. Standard work hours are from 7 AM to 4 PM, Monday through Friday, with no weekend shifts. The role may occasionally require lifting paint buckets weighing up to 50 pounds. The environment provides opportunities to collaborate with experienced chemists and offers substantial room for professional growth.

This is a contract position based out of Cleveland, Ohio.

Pay and Benefits:

The pay range for this position is $18.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
