Product Design Engineer
We are seeking a skilled Product Design Engineer to work under the Lead Mechanical Design Engineer, supporting the manufacturing of custom doors for both consumer and commercial clients. This role involves using blueprints of buildings to customize mechanical door designs in AutoCAD 2D for fabrication and creating 3D models to present to customers before manufacturing.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the Lead Mechanical Design Engineer to support custom door manufacturing.
- Use building blueprints to customize mechanical door designs in AutoCAD 2D.
- Create 3D models of door designs for customer presentations prior to manufacturing.
- Work closely with the fabrication shop to understand door manufacturing processes.
- Design and detail door manufacturing specifications that fabricators can easily interpret.
Essential Skills
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and SolidWorks.
- Experience in 3D mechanical design.
- Ability to design and detail blueprints for fabrication.
- Experience with Inventor software is highly preferred.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Background in AutoCAD 2D design in a product manufacturing setting.
- Capability to read and interpret 2D blueprints.
- Willingness to learn and adapt to new design software and methodologies.
Work Environment
The role begins with a two-month period in the fabrication shop to gain an understanding of door manufacturing. After this, you will transition to the design phase, working with current door stock and eventually moving into custom design work. The work environment is dynamic, with a focus on innovation and rapid growth.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $28.85 - $33.65/hr.
