Entry Level Engineer

Distribution Engineer

We are seeking Entry Level Distribution Engineers to join our team in Florida. The Distribution Engineer will support power distribution infrastructure upgrades and storm hardening projects across the state. The role includes engineering calculations and design for projects such as replacing deteriorating cable, transitioning overhead lines to underground, reconductoring existing distribution lines, and replacing aging poles. Engineering calculations will involve structural analysis of poles, guying, cable pulling, electric demand, fault currents, and coordination of protective systems.

Responsibilities

• Perform engineering calculations for power distribution projects.
• Design and upgrade power distribution infrastructure.
• Conduct structural analysis of poles and other infrastructure.
• Move overhead lines to underground as part of storm hardening efforts.
• Reconductoring of existing distribution lines.
• Replace aging poles to improve system reliability.
• Coordinate with protective systems and ensure compliance with utility standards.

Essential Skills

• Bachelor of Science in Engineering (Electrical, Civil, Mechanical) from an ABET-Accredited College or University.
• Experience or basic knowledge in electric utility industry concepts, including primary and secondary distribution systems.
• Ability to use design software packages such as AutoCAD, BOUD, and Bentley Open Utility Designer.
• Understanding of basic engineering theories and principles.
• Good written and oral communication skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills and self-motivation.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Leadership and/or customer interaction experience in a different industry.
• Experience on the Duke system for distribution design.
• Current knowledge of Maximo, Smallworld, and Microstation.
• EIT certification or passed Engineering Fundamentals Exam.

Work Environment

Work is performed at the Maitland office in a collaborative team environment. The office houses about 40-50 Engineers and Designers, offering extensive On-The-Job Training for entry-level individuals. Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Maitland, Florida.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $26.00 - $26.00/hr.
