DMS/EMS/SCADA Analyst Associate

Provide technical support for computer Energy Management (EMS) Systems or Supervisory Control Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems and other technical infrastructure used in Transmission Operations centers. This position requires a high degree of adaptability and a focus on meeting customer needs and continuous improvement in the systems supported.

Responsibilities

  • Provide support and guidance to less qualified analysts on problem resolution.
  • Train lower-level analysts in specific equipment and software support activities.
  • Maintain reliable operations of the EMS and SCADA systems.
  • Improve and make recommendations to enhance the quality and reliability of EMS and SCADA data and related services.
  • Maintain real-time data interfaces.
  • Develop, improve, and implement EMS and SCADA tools and software.
  • Keep EMS and SCADA tools up-to-date with current technologies.
  • Build and maintain custom EMS and SCADA one-line displays.
  • Perform modeling check-out and commissioning of Remote Terminal Units.
  • Build and maintain EMS and SCADA models.
  • Define and recommend implementation of internal EMS and SCADA standards.
  • Define and implement Human Performance Initiative rules and Key Performance Indicators around SCADA processes.
  • Scope small to medium SCADA projects with limited supervision and provide detailed feedback on scoping questions.
  • Identify issues with processes and tools, provide possible solutions, and offer input to more seasoned personnel.
  • Complete complex RPA and RTU configurations with limited supervision.
  • Expand communication technology competency to include legacy applications.
  • Support stakeholders with common SCADA-related issues.
  • Complete alarm and basic I/O settings for projects with limited supervision.
  • Implement standards with limited guidance from higher-level team members.
  • Assist higher-level team members with overall SCADA compliance items.
  • Lead training activities as part of advancement for other team and group members under Transmission University initiatives.

Essential Skills

  • Demonstrate detailed understanding of operational practices of applicable equipment and software.
  • Strong skills in communication, issue resolution, organization, and facilitation.
  • Solid understanding of business unit/operating company systems preferred.
  • Experience with SCADA systems required.
  • Perform troubleshooting and problem resolution in assigned areas.
  • Provide after-hours support for the EMS/SCADA systems as needed.
  • Learn current technology utilized and understand its application to SCADA.
  • Understand basic Protection and Control applications and their effects on SCADA.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Associate's Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, or related Technical field from an accredited college/university, or a high school diploma with two years of related military or electric utility technical experience.
  • No experience necessary with a degree or as stated.

Work Environment

Work hours are Monday to Friday, 8am - 5pm with potential after-hours as needed. Job designation is onsite, requiring five days a week in the office. Travel may include occasional meetings at the Gahanna location. Candidates local to central Ohio preferred, but qualified candidates from other areas will be considered. Sponsorship is not available.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $31.21/hr.
