Engineering Test Technician

Job Description – Test Technician

The Test Technician is responsible for building, assembling, and testing electro-mechanical prototypes. This role performs electrical checks, executes test procedures, and troubleshoots both hardware and software issues. The technician will work hands-on with prototyping, basic Python scripting, CAD tools, and fabrication techniques including soldering and cable harnessing.

Key Responsibilities

• Build and assemble electro-mechanical prototypes and test fixtures.
• Perform electrical and mechanical tests using oscilloscopes, multimeters, and other diagnostic tools.
• Execute Python-based test scripts and assist with basic programming tasks.
• Troubleshoot hardware, software, and system-level issues.
• Support fixture and jig development for testing and validation.
• Create or update simple CAD models for fixtures and prototype components.
• Perform soldering, wiring, and harnessing as needed for prototype builds.
• Document test results and contribute to continuous improvement of test processes.

Required Skills & Experience

• Strong understanding of electronics, electrical systems, and mechanical systems.
• Hands-on troubleshooting experience with electro-mechanical devices.
• Proficiency using oscilloscopes, multimeters, and general diagnostic equipment.
• Ability to execute Python test scripts.
• Mechanical aptitude and comfort with mechanical testing.
• Experience with fixture or jig setup and design.
• Basic CAD modeling skills.
• Soldering, wiring, and harness fabrication experience.

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior experience in prototype development or product testing environments.
• Experience designing or developing test fixtures.
• Familiarity with test execution in R&D or engineering labs.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of South San Francisco, CA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $40.00/hr.
