As an Engineering Technician, you will provide critical materials testing and observation services for projects involving roadways, bridges, airports, large commercial developments, and remediation.
You will conduct field and laboratory testing, observation, and inspection of construction materials such as soils, aggregates, concrete, asphalt, and steel.
Your role includes performing tests and inspections as directed, documenting findings clearly, and conducting basic data analysis to ensure accuracy before reporting to the Project Manager.
Perform field and laboratory testing, observation, and inspection of construction materials.
Document findings and results clearly and accurately.
Conduct basic analysis of data to verify accuracy before submission.
Communicate information to the Project Manager and other personnel as directed.
Train lower-level technicians depending on experience.
Maintain equipment and ensure proper calibration.
At least one year of experience in field testing.
Proficiency in using a laptop computer with Microsoft Word and Excel.
ACI certification and experience as a materials technician.
Ability to operate a nuclear density gauge.
Valid driver's license.
Experience with ICC, Special Inspector certifications.
Ability to pass a drug/BG check (THC permissible).
Familiarity with scheduling and dispatching technicians to project sites.
The role involves 95% fieldwork with typical working hours from Monday to Friday, 8-12 hour days.
Summer may entail longer hours than winter, with no guaranteed 40-hour workweek due to industry demands.
The position is based in either Buffalo, Rochester, or Syracuse office, with weekly travel across Upstate New York.
The environment includes a full-functioning lab with a small team, and the use of company vehicles such as a Ford F-150.
