Engineering Technician
Join a dynamic team tasked with setting up and conducting product testing in a lab environment. This role focuses on applying mechanical, electrical, and plumbing skills to ensure high standards of safety and performance in testing pool-related products.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare materials and set up product testing stations.
- Apply mechanical design, electrical design, plumbing, instrumentation, and data collection techniques for test setup.
- Ensure compliance with all agency requirements and standard practices.
- Ensure safety guards are in place and follow applicable safety procedures during testing.
- Utilize structured problem-solving methods to address, resolve, and prevent recurring issues.
- Apply basic instrumentation to obtain test data, including force, stress, strain, pressure, temperature, weight, and acceleration.
- Conduct product performance and reliability testing.
- Ensure adherence to documented testing procedures.
- Use personal protective equipment and follow safety protocols during tests.
- Provide documentation for all testing and archive data accordingly.
- Review all testing to minimize errors and ensure adherence to good test practices.
- Assist and support other technicians as needed to ensure correct test performance.
- Maintain good housekeeping practices and compliance with the 5S system.
- Evaluate the efficient use and organization of lab facilities and make recommendations for improvements.
- Ensure accuracy, timeliness, and organization of testing records for easy retrieval and analysis.
- Maintain lab equipment through a preventive maintenance system.
- Ensure calibration of all lab test equipment.
- Properly maintain water tanks and pools.
- Manage stocking, storage, documentation, and control of all chemicals.
- Ensure lab testing and operating procedures are accurate and updated through a document control system.
Essential Skills:
- Test execution and electromechanical test experience.
- Failure analysis proficiency.
- Minimum 2-year degree in engineering.
- At least 3 years of related experience.
- Hands-on troubleshooting skills.
- Experience with electromechanical testing, preferably of motors or pumps.
- Creative problem-solving skills for custom test stand development.
- Experience in validating part tests and testing to failure.
- Preventative maintenance experience with test stands.

Work Environment:
The role involves working with a team of six lab technicians to test motor and pump commodities. The position requires travel to facilities in Sanford and Apex. Tests typically last 45 days and require setting up and performing tests on test stands. There are currently 40 active tests managed by seven technicians. Lab technicians work closely with engineers to execute tests, confirm results, and gather data. This role requires hands-on, onsite support and provides opportunities to upskill through various test stands and custom projects.
Job Type & Location:
This is a position based out of Sanford, North Carolina.
Pay and Benefits:
The pay range for this position is $32.00 - $38.00/hr.
