Prototype Engineering Technician

Join our team as a prototype engineering technician, where you will design and construct prototype components and equipment. Your technical expertise will contribute to the development of new or improved products, working closely with internal departments such as R&D, quality, and advance operations. You will prioritize, schedule, and modify designs to produce prototypes and equipment that meet engineering standards.

Responsibilities:

• Design and construct prototype components and equipment.
• Perform a wide variety of technical work leading to new or improved products.
• Collaborate with internal departments for direct support during research and new product development.
• Prioritize, schedule, and modify designs to produce prototypes and equipment.
• Ensure compliance with documentation procedures and engineering standards.
• Coordinate with suppliers, vendors, and project managers to meet timelines.
• Ensure prototypes, equipment, and results are obtained.
• Submit periodic reports on assigned topics to direct manager.
• Document designs using CAD systems.
• Investigate, evaluate, and troubleshoot testing failures.

Essential skills:

• Engineering and troubleshooting skills.
• Mechanical aptitude.
• Experience with oscilloscopes, soldering, and test equipment.
• Proficiency in data logging and collection.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 3+ years of related technical experience preferred.
• 1+ years of CAD/CAM experience (CREO experience preferred).

Work environment:

This position requires working onsite 100% of the time at our Portage, MI location. Employees will enjoy 2 weeks of PTO and 10 paid holidays. The work environment is collaborative, involving coordination with various departments and external partners.

Pay and benefits:

The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $39.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
