Embedded Systems Engineer

We are seeking a highly motivated Embedded Systems Engineer with a strong background in software-hardware integration, embedded programming, and government cybersecurity standards. This role is critical to aligning government compliance documentation with system architecture and project goals. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working in a fast-paced, collaborative environment alongside a team of engineers and project managers.

Responsibilities

  • Review and interpret government documentation including CMFF, NIST 800-53, and NSA Raise-the-Bar.
  • Align documentation with program project plans and technical requirements.
  • Develop and integrate embedded software using C++ and Python.
  • Implement containerized environments using Docker.
  • Design and support box-to-box communication using TCP/IP protocols.
  • Work with RTI and Pub/Sub frameworks for distributed systems.
  • Collaborate on system modeling using Cameo and model-based systems engineering (MBSE) approaches.
  • Interface with hardware using SOSA card slot profiles, IPMI, I2C, and Syslog messaging.
  • Utilize tools such as Xilinx Vitas/Vivado, NVIDIA Dev Tools, and GitHub.

Essential Skills

  • Proficiency in C++ and Python.
  • Experience in software-hardware integration.
  • Knowledge of containerization technologies like Docker.
  • Understanding of TCP/IP communication protocols.
  • Experience with Publish/Subscribe architectures.
  • Proficiency in Git-based version control.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Onsite availability in Grand Rapids, MI (minimum 3 days per week).
  • 3–5+ years of experience in embedded programming and relevant technologies.
  • Experience with military or government system development (preferred).
  • Familiarity with hardware platforms such as Intel i7-1380 and Xilinx Zynq UltraScale+ RFSoC or MPSoC.
  • Knowledge of standards such as NIST 800-53, SOSA, CMFF, and FACE.
  • Experience with RTI Connext DDS.
  • Proficiency in Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) using Cameo.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $45.00 - $80.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
