Embedded Software Engineer

This role involves the requirements generation, simulation, design, development, and integration of complex, software-based military combat vehicle systems. The engineer will contribute across the full product lifecycle, from concept and architecture through testing, integration, and deployment.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop software requirements and design algorithms.
  • Model and simulate systems to validate performance against customer requirements.
  • Conduct trade studies to compare alternative technical approaches.

Essential Skills:

  • Proficiency in C++ and embedded software development.
  • Experience with SysML and RTOS.
  • Software engineering for complex, safety-critical systems.
  • Embedded software development in C/C++, Linux, and RTOS.
  • Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) using UML/SysML.
  • Experience with military vehicle software systems and integration.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret U.S. Defense clearance.
  • Knowledge of DevSecOps, Agile development, and rapid prototyping.
  • Familiarity with C5ISR systems.

Additional Skills & Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with Git, Jira, Confluence, and Kubernetes.
  • Experience with MATLAB/Simulink and CANoe.
  • Knowledge of drivers, kernels, applications, containers, and virtual machines.
  • Experience integrating CPU, GPU, and FPGA-based systems.
  • Understanding of standard bus and communication protocols such as J1939 CAN Bus, RS422/485, Ethernet (802.3), TCP/IP, UDP, DDS, Multicast, DisplayPort, HDMI, and HD-SDI.
  • Understanding of vehicle power distribution and automotive power management.
  • Working knowledge of digital, analog, power, and RF electronics.
  • Hands-on experience with lab equipment such as oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and spectrum analyzers.
  • Experience supporting lethality and survivability systems.
  • Regulated defense or aerospace environments.
  • Exposure to proposal activities, bid capture, or contract delivery planning.
  • International collaboration or technology transfer experience.

Work Environment:

You will work in a highly regulated defense engineering environment, collaborating cross-functionally with mechanical, electrical, and systems teams. The role includes interaction with external customers and suppliers and involves hands-on lab and test environments, including SIL and HIL activities. Occasional international travel is required.

This is a Permanent position based out of Sterling Heights, MI.

Pay and Benefits:

The pay range for this position is $67.31 - $72.12/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
