Embedded Firmware Engineer

We are seeking an experienced Embedded Firmware Engineer who is adept at working closely with hardware engineers to bring up and test new hardware designs. The ideal candidate will be proficient in reading component data sheets, user manuals, and hardware schematics. You will collaborate with the ASIC team to bring up new custom network switch ASICs and create diagnostic tests for various platforms, working with design engineers to bring up these platforms.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate closely with hardware engineers to bring up and test new hardware designs.
• Read and interpret component data sheets, user manuals, and hardware schematics.
• Work with the ASIC team on bringing up new custom network switch ASICs.
• Create diagnostic tests for various platforms.
• Collaborate with design engineers to bring up platforms.

Essential Skills

• Minimum of 4 years of experience programming in C.
• Strong experience with embedded software development, including bare metal.
• Experience in bringing up hardware and debugging it.
• Proficiency in device driver development, PCIe, microcontroller, firmware, and Linux.
• Familiarity with serdes technology.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience with processor bring-up and debugging.

Work Environment

This position is onsite in San Jose. You will be part of a very experienced team, supporting the largest networking product company in the world and working on the newest products and technology. The environment is collaborative, and long-term engagements are common, with consultants often remaining for over two years.

This is a contract position based out of Milpitas, CA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $45.00 - $52.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
