Experienced Test Engineer - Manufacturing

The experienced Test Engineer - Manufacturing plays a crucial role within the Operations Support team, leveraging education and experience to optimize the performance of production equipment. This role collaborates with Design Engineering, Compliance, and Production to define product test requirements, while designing, building, and maintaining functional test fixtures used on the production floor. The position involves programming these fixtures to conduct tests, capturing results, and interfacing with tester computer interfaces (GUI). The engineer also documents test requirements, processes, and maintenance plans, ensuring efficient production operations.

Responsibilities

  • Design and maintain functional test fixtures and program them using C#.
  • Work with external vendors to design and build ICT and functional test fixtures.
  • Support production to meet shipment schedules through problem resolution and test fixture repair.
  • Collaborate with Manufacturing Engineering to create automated and semi-automated test equipment.
  • Create new test fixture software using Visual Studio.Net C# and support existing software in C#, C++, Python, and LabView.
  • Develop and maintain detailed tester design documentation and process instructions.
  • Implement a robust preventative maintenance program for production equipment.
  • Troubleshoot and assist in the maintenance and repair of test equipment and fixtures.
  • Design electronic test components at the circuit board level.
  • Analyze test capacity to optimize product flow through production processes.
  • Participate actively in production improvement activities and suggest improvement opportunities.
  • Support the Preventive Maintenance and Manufacturing Execution Systems.
  • Ensure compliance with EH&S goals and complete monthly inspections.

Essential Skills

  • Strong skills in electrical design, software, and some mechanical design.
  • Hands-on experience with building/wiring and programming in C#.
  • Excellent communication and writing skills.
  • Experience designing and building production test fixtures.
  • Experience with ICT Fixture development (Keysight 3070 and Checksum).
  • Knowledge of electrical test components and equipment such as meters and oscilloscopes.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Access, Outlook).
  • Familiarity with electromechanical assembly techniques and LEAN principles.
  • Demonstrated leadership in solving complex problems and leading projects.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • BS degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science.
  • 7+ years of engineering experience in a production environment.
  • Experience in writing technical documentation including prints, procedures, and reports.
  • Knowledge and experience using JDE is a plus.
  • Demonstrated ability to collect data and perform advanced analysis.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $55.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
