Electrical Power Engineer

Professional Electrical Engineer

Our client is looking for a Professional Electrical Engineer (P.Eng) who can work on a variety of electrical brownfield upgrade projects for the HV field. The majority of the work will be on some substation modifications which require new equipment and studies.

The electrical engineer will need to do the following tasks:

• Perform power system studies including load flow, short circuit, harmonics, arc flash, insulation coordination, grounding, dynamic stability, transient stability.
• Assess interconnection projects for grid code compliance.
• Develop comprehensive protection studies and accompanying protection relay settings and support the field-testing team in their implementation.
• Lead and/or prepare electrical engineering designs, including single lines, metering and relaying diagrams, design schematics, calculations, and conceptual designs, utilizing standard methods and project principles.
• Review the work of engineers and designers developing engineering and design documents as needed for the project.
• Integrate new designs within complex existing brownfield environments.
• Mentor and guide junior staff, maintaining a comprehensive understanding of design standards, applicable engineering codes, and guidelines, providing suggestions and recommendations as needed.
• Collaborating closely with client technical leaders to ensure seamless coordination.

MUST HAVES:

• 5 years as a P.Eng and willingness to stamp
• 10+ years of industry exp. (inclusive of EIT designation)
• Electrical substation design (brownfield)
• Studies exp. (grounding studies and insulation coordination are desired)
• Transient and dynamic study analysis (time domain analysis)
• Arc Flash and Load flow

NICE TO HAVES:

• P&C Exp.
• Settings and configurations exp.
• Experience with system analysis tools such as PSS/E, ETAP, EMTP, PSCAD, CDEGS, CYME, ASPEN or other equivalents.

The pay range for this position is $85.00 - $95.00/hr.

This is a hybrid position in Squamish, BC.
