Electrical Engineer/Designer
The electrical engineer/designer will be responsible for creating electrical schematics and bills of materials (BOMs), with opportunities for PLC and HMI programming. You will play a pivotal role in developing and implementing switchboard and switchgear solutions, collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure the delivery of high-quality control panels that meet client specifications and industry standards.
Responsibilities
- Design and develop switchboard and switchgear solutions for a variety of industrial applications, adhering to client requirements and industry standards.
- Generate accurate and comprehensive BOMs based on design specifications, ensuring the availability and compatibility of all components.
- Create detailed schematics, wiring diagrams, and layout drawings using industry-standard CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD Electrical) to depict the electrical connections and layout of control panels.
- Perform power calculations, including load analysis, voltage drop calculations, and short circuit calculations to ensure proper electrical design and safety.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including mechanical engineers, project managers, and clients, to gather requirements, share progress, and address design challenges.
- Participate in design reviews to ensure designs align with project goals, specifications, and industry best practices.
- Stay current with industry trends, technological advancements, and regulatory changes to continuously improve design processes and ensure compliance.
- Contribute to the optimization of control panel designs, focusing on cost-efficiency, reliability, and ease of maintenance.
- Support the procurement team by providing technical guidance on component selection and vendor relationships.
- Provide technical assistance during manufacturing and assembly phases, addressing issues and ensuring accurate implementation of designs.
- Perform designs and engineering according to job specifications and governing code bodies such as UL508a, UL67, UL891, and NEC.
Essential Skills
- BS in Electrical Engineering or an Associate degree in a related CAD or engineering field.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD Electrical (ideally) or AutoCAD.
- Experience in creating and reading electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and electrical layout drawings.
- Understanding of electrical principles, power distribution, controls, and relevant calculations.
- Knowledge of industry standards (e.g., NEC, IEC, UL) and regulations related to control panel design and electrical systems.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- 2+ years of experience in electrical design or related fields.
- Experience as a Switchboard Field or Service Technician is considered applicable.
- Hands-on hobbies such as working on cars, electronic gadgets, construction, or building things are advantageous.
- UL certification is a plus.
- Familiarity with UL 891 and UL 67 standards for switchboards and electrical panels.
Work Environment
This position offers a Monday to Friday schedule with start times between 6am-7am. The role involves working in an office environment with opportunities for collaboration with manufacturing teams. No travel is required. You will be part of a growing area within an established company, working in a fast-paced environment with evolving technologies.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Dallas, Texas.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $55.00/hr.
