Exciting Electrical Engineer Opportunity!

We are seeking a contract Electrical Engineer to perform board layout, assist with the cleanup of incomplete and outdated Bills of Materials (BOMs) and engineering documentation. This position involves working closely with Mechanical Engineers and other team members to support documentation validation, component-level analysis, and board-level troubleshooting. It requires strong electrical design experience and comfort navigating multiple software platforms.

Responsibilities

  • Review electrical BOMs, schematics, board layouts, and legacy documentation for accuracy and completeness.
  • Identify outdated, obsolete, or inconsistent electrical components and update documentation accordingly.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to verify component-level specifications, tolerances, and compliance.
  • Support obsolescence reviews, board-level troubleshooting, and specification updates.
  • Process Engineering Change Requests (ECRs) and manage data within SAP.
  • Use platforms such as Altium, ORCAD, SPICE, and Excel to perform design reviews and updates.

Essential Skills

  • 3–5+ years of electrical engineering experience, preferably in a product development or support role.
  • Experience in electrical product development to a hardware level.
  • Electrical Engineering Degree highly preferred.
  • Experience working within SAP or similar ERP software system.
  • Experience working with BOMs of electromechanical products.
  • Proficient in Altium or similar PCB design software, and comfortable with Excel and related tools.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience with PCB Design & Simulation Software - Altium, OrCAD, SPICE.
  • Experience working within regulated industries such as nuclear, medical, or defense.
  • Familiarity with obsolescence management and legacy product lifecycle support.
  • Familiarity with design validation processes and document control systems.

Work Environment

This position is based in an on-site temperature-regulated manufacturing/office environment. The work schedule is Monday through Friday, from 7:30/8:00 AM to 4:30/5:00 PM.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of Knoxville, TN.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $50.00 - $65.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
