Electrical Engineer

Intermediate Electrical Engineer

We are seeking an Intermediate Electrical Engineer to join a fast-paced, brownfield-focused EPC environment. This role will support brownfield projects across a number of high-profile accounts, providing an opportunity to be part of a dynamic and fun office environment. The ideal candidate will be a hands-on contributor with strong low-voltage experience and the ability to thrive in a dynamic, client-facing setting.

Responsibilities

• Develop and review control system architectures with electrical/control overlap.
• Design electrical systems including power generation, distribution, switchgear, MCCs, communication, and grounding systems.
• Create electrical schematics, loop drawings, heat trace layouts, and schedules.
• Generate construction drawings, including panel layouts, single-line diagrams, and cable routing.
• Perform electrical calculations per CEC/NEC and other applicable standards.
• Prepare bid evaluations, RFQs, and construction packages.
• Review engineering deliverables for completeness and technical accuracy.
• Provide post-commissioning technical support.
• Interface with clients and vendors; represent the company in HAZOPs, FATs, LOPA reviews, and technical sessions.
• Support the electrical design and drafting team.

Essential Skills

• 3-10 years of electrical engineering experience.
• EIT or Technologist qualification (P.Eng not required).
• Proficiency in Bluebeam and Microsoft Office.
• Strong low-voltage experience (≤750V).
• EPC experience with mid-to-small projects (e.g., oil batteries, well pads, pipelines).
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, ETAP, and EPLAN.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience with control system architecture.
• Familiarity with medium-voltage systems.
• Experience in small Greenfield projects.
• Flexibility for occasional remote work.
• Familiarity with heat trace design and schedules.

The office is located downtown and offers a relaxed, team-oriented environment with minimal hierarchies. The culture is easy-going, encouraging feedback and interaction with senior staff. The office includes a games room with beverages, and team activities such as bowling and softball are common. The position allows for one flex day.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of Calgary, Alberta.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $45.00/hr.
