Electrical Design Engineer

We are seeking a talented Design Engineer to tackle complex electrical engineering challenges and assist clients in making critical decisions that impact the operation and reliability of their facilities. The role involves leading the design of low- and medium-voltage power distribution and motor control systems, coordinating electrical work with civil, structural, and mechanical disciplines, and developing construction specifications for electrical equipment and systems. Additionally, you will perform short circuit, protective device coordination, and arc flash studies to ensure the safety and efficiency of electrical systems.

Responsibilities

• Solve complex electrical engineering problems and assist clients in making critical decisions.
• Lead the design of low- and medium-voltage power distribution and motor control systems.
• Coordinate electrical work with civil, structural, and mechanical disciplines.
• Develop construction specifications for electrical equipment and systems.
• Provide engineering services during construction to ensure proper implementation of designs.
• Perform short circuit, protective device coordination, and arc flash studies.
• Plan and track electrical scope, schedule, and budget efficiently.
• Adapt and execute various additional assignments based on evolving needs.

Essential Skills

• Design expertise with proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, and Navisworks.
• 8+ years of electrical design experience on horizontal infrastructure projects such as wastewater treatment facilities and data centers.
• PE license or ability to obtain within the first year of employment.
• Strong understanding of industry codes and standards (NEC, NFPA, IEEE, etc.).
• Experience working with private sector clients.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Proficiency in Mathcad.
• Experience with electrical engineering in data center environments.
• Ability to work effectively with cross-disciplinary teams.

Work Environment

This is a fully remote position with flexibility in work hours, allowing you to choose between a 7:00am - 4:00pm or 9:00am - 6:00pm schedule. You will travel to sites nationwide 8-10 times a year. This is a Contract to Hire position based out of New York, NY.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $63.00 - $77.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
