Electrical Design Engineer

Responsibilities
- Serve as a technical expert in support of power distribution, lighting, fire alarm, and telecommunication systems for design projects.
- Lead electrical engineering efforts and provide technical and design services as part of a multi-discipline project team.
- Direct and conduct technical evaluations of electrical equipment/systems and control systems.
- Prepare design computations and assessments.
- Complete electrical engineering design tasks within budget and on schedule.
- Communicate and coordinate technical evaluations and designs, and write technical reports and correspondence.
- Stay current with local, state, and federal design standards and regulations.
- Develop new work and clients related to electrical engineering services for institutional, commercial, and industrial facilities.
Essential Skills
- B.S. in Electrical Engineering
- NC PE or ability to acquire NC PE quickly through reciprocity
- 8+ years of relevant experience
- High technical ability and interest in staying current in the field
- Strong communication skills and ability to take initiative
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience in electrical power engineering and drawing sets in CAD or Revit
- Familiarity with MEP work for buildings
- Comfortable with NEC, NESC, IEEE standards and a willingness to learn more
- Enjoyment in thinking creatively and presenting ideas to teams and clients
- Interdisciplinary systems approach to engineering
- Experience with financial metrics and data analytics in engineering solutions
Work Environment
The individual will initially work out of the Durham office for 3-6 months and then have more flexibility. The work environment is collaborative and encourages innovation and professional growth.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Durham, North Carolina.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $50.00 - $50.00/hr.
