Distribution Engineer

Actalent's client is seeking an Distribution Engineer, a fully qualified and accredited engineering professional who applies theoretical and practical knowledge to deliver engineering design, estimating, planning, and quality management services for low- to medium-complexity projects and/or operations. The role ensures work is completed safely, with quality, on time, and within budget.

Key responsibilities include:

• Providing technical guidance, instruction, and assistance related to the operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and modification of equipment.
• Investigating, analyzing, and resolving a variety of engineering problems, including complex and unusual issues, by developing techniques, devising new approaches, and/or applying existing criteria in innovative ways.

Required qualifications include:

• Professional certification: P.Eng registered in British Columbia.
• Permit to practice.
• Degree in Electrical Engineering from a recognized Canadian university (Power Engineering preferred).
• Technical expertise: Experience with overhead and underground electric utility distribution systems operating at or below 35kV, including automation.
• Broad distribution-related skills: planning, system engineering, protection engineering, design, and project management.
• Ability to perform system analysis.

Other requirements include:

• Knowledge of BC Hydro systems, policies, and procedures (preferred).
• Willingness to travel.
• Maintain good standing with Engineers & Geoscientists BC (EGBC) throughout the contract.
• Valid Class 5 Driver's License.

Preferred assets include:

• Distribution engineering experience.
• Utilities experience.
• Familiarity with overhead modeling software (e.g., Spidacalc, PLS-CADD).
• Experience level: Entry Level.
• Job type & location: This is a contract position based out of Vancouver, BC.
• Pay and benefits: The pay range for this position is $48.00 - $55.00/hr.
