Design Release Engineer (DRE)
We are looking for a highly motivated engineer who is driven to deliver innovative products, must be a self-starter and must work effectively multi-functionally. Working as a Design Release Engineer (DRE) can provide one with a great foundation of leadership skills. The DRE is responsible for definition of requirements, execution of design, analysis, development, testing and management of engineering projects for Electronic Control Modules where creativity, initiative and independent judgment are involved.
The components/modules you could work on in this group vary based on experience but could be in one of the following:
Body/Interior Controls HW, Engine & High Voltage Mechatronic H/W, Passive Safety, Advanced Forward Lighting and Seat Control Electronics Hardware, Chassis & Sensor Hardware, Vehicle Access Controls Hardware, Vehicle Sensing Hardware, Chassis, Fuel, Driveline, Transmission MHW
Responsibilities:
- Design and release for active safety electronic components programs including all elements of hardware and software.
- Capable of coordinating and driving design for manufacturing initiatives Develops component technical specifications as well as statement of requirements and subsystem technical specifications
- Leads formal design, peer, and quality reviews
- Primary GM engineering collaborate with the component suppliers and leads/runs supplier resident engineers
- Performs complex design analysis and tackle engineering related problems
- Analyze and negotiate requirements with internal and external partners, trace their implementation throughout product development and integration
- Works with engineering functions, suppliers, plant personnel and others to implement cost reduction, methods and product improvements, and to support build programs
- Releases parts and subsystems for production
Required Education and Experience:
- BS in Engineering, Physics, Math, Computer Science, Information Technology or Chemistry
- 2+ years of experience in engineering required with a preference in electrical/electronic component design/release.
- Understanding of engineering theory and principles of operation of mechanical/electrical mechanisms
- Specific knowledge of engineering mechanics, physics, metallurgy, or manufacturing methods engineering
Desired Skills:
- Electronic validation experience
- Software and hardware controls experience. Release experience desired.
- Experience with automated driving sensors (cameras, lidars, radars, ultrasonic sensors) a plus
- Experience in manufacturing and vehicle launch
- Knowledge of Team Center Systems Engineering and/or IBM DOORS requirements management tools is a plus
- DFSS Certification
- Design/Development/Integration of Safety Critical Systems/Components
- Experience in performing system and component level DFMEAs / DFMEA training
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $55.00/hr.
