Design Engineer
The role involves applying engineering methods to develop products while ensuring quality, regulatory compliance, and profitability. The Design Engineer will assist and troubleshoot issues with production staff, calculate material usage, collaborate with designers to improve product lines, and complete updates to engineering documents via the Engineering Change Notice (ECN) procedure.
Responsibilities
- Assist production staff in troubleshooting fabrication issues with components and assemblies.
- Calculate material usage for all components and parts for assemblies.
- Collaborate with designers to improve product lines.
- Complete updates or changes to released engineering documents via the ECN procedure.
- Compute mathematical formulas to develop and design detailed specifications for components and machinery using computer-assisted equipment.
- Consult with sr. engineering to review schematics and answer questions about system installations.
- Coordinate with other workers to design, layout, and detail components and systems, resolving any design issues.
- Create and enter part numbers, bills of material, and shop floor routings into the ERP system.
- Create models, prints, schematics, and bills of material for production aid.
- Design, calculate, and draft pressure vessels and corresponding structural components using CAD and FEA software.
- Develop 3D models and detailed drawings for components, assemblies, and hardware based on sales specifications.
- Develop drawings and specifications to meet all applicable regulations and standards.
- Evaluate change requests with respect to effects on cost, weight, ease of manufacturing, quality, and customer impact.
- Maintain flexibility to shift tasks as needed.
- Lay out, draw, and detail schematics, parts, and assemblies with all necessary views to depict functional relationships.
- Modify and revise designs to correct deficiencies or reduce production problems.
- Notify supervisor of any quality concerns or delays.
- Position instructions and comments onto drawings and technical publications to describe mechanical systems' operation and maintenance.
- Review and analyze specifications, sketches, and related data to assess factors affecting component designs and procedures.
- Review drawings, bills of material, and routings to verify accuracy.
Essential Skills
- Mechanical engineering and design experience.
- Experience with sheet metal, stainless steel, and metal fabrication.
- Proficiency in Solidworks or Autodesk Inventor.
- Experience with FEA & Vibration analysis, specifically using Nastran.
- 3+ years of relevant work experience.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $75000.00 - $105000.00/yr.
