Design Engineer

We are seeking a mid-level Design Engineer with expertise in product and system design and development. This role is based in Huntersville, NC, and requires travel to support customers within a 1.5-hour radius. The primary focus will be on mechanical system design using CAD and structural analysis (FEA), supported by systems modeling to substantiate decisions. You will work from initial concepts through detailed drawing execution within a project team, under the guidance of a design team lead, with expectations for system-level design responsibility.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop vehicle and product systems.
• Model and characterize system physics.
• Develop and package CAD system and component concepts.
• Apply linear-static Finite Element Analysis for design optimization.
• Generate technical drawings.
• Prepare and present project status reports.
• Develop and report on test design (DVP&R).
• Support and resolve customer issues using mechanical, analytical, CAE, and project management skills.
• Prepare technical specifications and develop testing methods and procedures.
• Investigate alternative business opportunities and support manufacturing by responding to ECRs.
• Present results to and take direction from external customers.

Essential Skills

• Proficiency in FEA analysis and mechanical engineering.
• Experience in new product development and GD&T.
• Skill in mechanical engineering design, particularly in motorsports.
• Testing validation and project management skills.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience in parametric 3D modeling and tolerancing.
• Motorsport industry experience (NASCAR preferred).
• Team player with strong attention to detail.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong work ethic and pride in work products.
• Interest in technology and a willingness to learn new things.

Work Environment

This is a Contract position based out of Huntersville, NC.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $42.00 - $47.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
