Design Engineer

This Design Engineer will be responsible for creating detailed 3D models and assembly drawings using SolidWorks. The primary focus will be on designing and developing complete chassis systems, chassis components, chassis cabs, and various other mechanical parts. The ideal candidate should have strong experience in mechanical design and be highly proficient in 3D solid modeling. In addition to design work, this engineer will collaborate with the shop floor to verify fit and function, ensuring designs are accurately translated into physical components.

Responsibilities:

  • Create detailed 3D models and assembly drawings using SolidWorks.
  • Design and develop complete chassis systems, chassis components, and chassis cabs.
  • Collaborate with the shop floor to verify fit and function of designs.
  • Ensure designs are accurately translated into physical components.
  • Deliver accurate and timely designs to meet project deadlines.

Essential Skills:

  • 2-5+ years of experience in mechanical design using SolidWorks 3D.
  • Experience working on the manufacturing floor to support troubleshooting.
  • Strong experience in mechanical design and 3D solid modeling.

Additional Skills & Qualifications:

  • Engineering Degree is a plus.
  • Experience creating Bills of Material (BOM).
  • Experience with air and hydraulic schematics.
  • Experience in heavy truck or transportation chassis design.
  • Certified SolidWorks Professional (CSWP) certification is advantageous.

Work Environment:

  • The role is based in an engineering building, working alongside other engineers.
  • The work primarily involves designing at a cubicle with some interaction on the shop floor to ensure accuracy and troubleshoot.
  • The project team comprises 10 engineers, including functional leads and mentors.
  • The work schedule is four 10-hour days, Monday to Thursday, from 6am to 4pm.

Job Type & Location:

This is a Contract position based out of Charlotte, MI.

Pay Range: $37.00 - $46.00/hr.
