Design Engineer

We are seeking a passionate and innovative Design Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for designing system components and assemblies, focusing on prototyping, stress analysis, aesthetics, safety, cost-effectiveness, and ease of manufacture and installation. You will play a crucial role in ensuring timely availability and quality of designs that meet all technical requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Design system components and assemblies with a focus on cost-efficiency and innovation.
  • Communicate with vendors, request and approve quotes, and integrate components into the manufacturing process.
  • Prepare and approve technical drawings, create bill of materials, and document revisions for approval, manufacturing, subcontracting, and installation.
  • Ensure successful completion of engineering tasks from design through purchasing, manufacturing, installation, production, and support/maintenance.
  • Build and manufacture design prototypes hands-on.
  • Engage in engineering systems, modify standard designs, prepare installation drawings, provide engineering support during installations, and follow up as required.
  • Set up and assist with sales demonstrations.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Essential Skills

  • Proficiency in SolidWorks and AutoCAD.
  • Mechanical ability and knowledge of mechanical codes.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings and use calipers.
  • Experience with hand, power, and machine tools.
  • 2+ years of experience in a related field.
  • Valid North/South Carolina driver's license.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • BSME, BSMET, or Associate degree preferred.
  • Passion for design and automation.
  • Ability to read measurements to the 16th of an inch.
  • Adept at traveling as required for the job.

Work Environment

Join a family-owned business with a team-driven atmosphere. The role is project-oriented, focusing 75% on CAD design work. The work environment includes building and fabricating large conveyor systems onsite, which are later disassembled and shipped to customers. You will also assist in ensuring parts fit and work correctly, and may travel for installation and integration. We value fun, innovation, and teamwork, and hold several patents in our niche industry.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Charlotte, North Carolina.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $38.00 - $42.00/hr.
