Design Engineer
Responsible for the design, development, and lifecycle management of heavy-duty alternators for trucks, buses, military, and specialty vehicles. The role involves designing next-gen alternators from concept to production in a global team setting.
Responsibilities:
- Design next-gen alternators from concept to production in a global team setting.
- Perform advanced CAD modeling and manage engineering data.
- Collaborate with manufacturing teams on design for manufacturability and tooling.
- Lead product testing to meet customer and industry standards.
- Conduct design reviews and maintain Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (DFMEAs).
- Manage project plans in alignment with TS and Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) standards.
Essential Skills:
- 5+ years of relevant engineering experience.
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering (BSME/MS) or equivalent experience.
- Proficient in GD&T and CAD tools (ProE/Creo; SolidWorks a plus).
- Experience in mechanical design, 3D modeling, and electromechanical design.
- Familiarity with TS16949, APQP, and new product development processes.
- Strong project leadership, time management, and organizational skills.
Additional Skills & Qualifications:
- Background in electromechanical design (AC generators, DC alternators, rotating equipment).
- FEA experience (magnetics or stress analysis) preferred.
- Familiarity with 5S, Lean Six Sigma, Windchill, Minitab, and tolerance analysis.
Work Environment:
The position involves 80% office work and 20% hands-on work with cross-functional teams in product development. The work environment supports collaboration and innovation in a global setting.
Job Type & Location:
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Arcade, New York.
Pay and Benefits:
The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $45.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
