Location: Richmond, BC (Hybrid/On-site)

Level: Intermediate

Industry: Space Systems | Defence | Geointelligence

Our client is a global technology organization operating at the intersection of space, defence, and geointelligence, supporting some of the most advanced Earth observation, satellite, and mission-critical systems in operation today.

They are currently seeking a Member of Technical Staff (MTS) – Systems Security to join a highly specialized engineering team focused on securing complex, high-assurance systems across space missions, defence programs, and advanced commercial platforms.

The Opportunity

In this role, you'll be responsible for defining, designing, and validating security architectures for a wide range of systems—from classified, on-prem defence environments to modern cloud-enabled satellite and geospatial platforms.

You'll collaborate closely with systems engineers, project teams, and customers to ensure security is embedded across the full system lifecycle—requirements, design, implementation, verification, and accreditation.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Define target security postures and derive security requirements aligned with customer needs, standards, and internal policies
  • Contribute to secure system architectures, operational concepts, and system enhancements
  • Develop and maintain security artefacts including: security requirements & specifications, threat models and vulnerability assessments, test plans, compliance documentation, and customer reports
  • Perform threat and risk assessments and recommend mitigation strategies
  • Review vulnerability and compliance scanning results and prioritize remediation activities
  • Support program delivery through security planning, estimation, and budgeting
  • Participate in security verification and accreditation activities
  • Coach and mentor junior engineers within the security team

Required Qualifications

  • Degree or diploma in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent experience
  • CISSP certification (required)
  • 5+ years working in systems security, engineering, or information systems environments
  • Experience supporting defence or government programs through full delivery lifecycle
  • Strong understanding of system accreditation and compliance processes (e.g. CSE ITS guidance such as ITSG-11/22/33/38)
  • Proven ability to work closely with systems engineers and customer stakeholders
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Strong leadership, problem-solving, and execution capabilities

Nice to Have

  • Experience accrediting classified defence systems and multi-domain environments
  • Familiarity with standards and frameworks such as NIST SP 800-53 / 800-160, ISO/IEC standards, DISA STIGs, CIS, SANS
  • Security Operations Centre (SOC) experience including SIEM, IDS/IPS, or advanced monitoring tools
  • Hands-on experience with Microsoft enterprise environments, vulnerability management and continuous monitoring tools, virtualization, DLP, and secure networking technologies
  • Exposure to satellite systems, secure communications, or telecom environments
  • Security certifications such as CCSP or CISM
