Cyber Systems Security Engineer – Embedded Systems Focus
Join our Program Protection Organization as a Cyber Systems Security Engineer, where you'll play a critical role in safeguarding advanced technologies across Missiles and Fire Control. Our team leads the charge in Anti-Tamper and embedded Cybersecurity, ensuring secure product development from concept to sustainment.
We're seeking a hands-on engineer with deep experience in embedded systems and embedded software security—not a traditional ISSO/ISSM profile. This role is ideal for someone who has worked directly with embedded platforms, implemented security features at the firmware/software level, and understands the unique challenges of securing hardware-integrated systems.
What You'll Be Doing
As a Cyber Systems Security Engineer, you will:
- Lead embedded System Security Engineering efforts throughout the DoD Weapon System development lifecycle
- Design and implement security features in embedded software and firmware
- Perform threat assessments and risk mitigation for embedded systems
- Decompose and validate System Security Engineering requirements specific to embedded platforms
- Develop and verify hardware/software-based security solutions
- Architect and deploy state-of-the-art embedded cybersecurity countermeasures
- Analyze vulnerabilities and threats targeting embedded systems
- Prototype and test embedded security defenses against cyber-attacks
Required Skills & Experience
- Strong background in embedded systems engineering
- Proven experience in embedded software development (e.g., C/C++, RTOS, bare-metal programming)
- Hands-on experience implementing security features in embedded environments
- Familiarity with DoD Weapon System cybersecurity requirements
- Expertise in vulnerability analysis and risk management for embedded platforms
- Experience with System Security Engineering processes and lifecycle
- Ability to obtain DoD Secret Clearance
Preferred Skills
- Systems Engineering
- Requirements Analysis
- Secure Boot, Trusted Execution Environments (TEE), or similar technologies
- Cryptographic implementation in embedded systems
- Experience with hardware/software co-design for security
Experience Level
Intermediate to Advanced – Ideal for engineers with 3–8 years of embedded cybersecurity experience in defense or high-assurance systems.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $58.80 - $58.80/hr.
