Controls Engineer

As a Controls Engineer, you will design electrical systems and equipment for innovative industrial packaging machines. You will ensure compliance with applicable electrical standards, codes, and safety regulations, while preparing accurate cost and material estimates for projects. Your role will involve providing technical support and guidance to manufacturing team members during installation and troubleshooting, collaborating with cross-functional teams to identify and define new product development opportunities, and participating in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance system performance and reliability. You will also design and develop safety programs for automation systems, including robotics, and review and validate the safety performance level of control systems, offering technical recommendations to ensure seamless integration of third-party equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Design electrical systems and equipment for industrial packaging machines.
  • Ensure compliance with electrical standards, codes, and safety regulations.
  • Prepare accurate cost and material estimates for projects.
  • Provide technical support and guidance during installation and troubleshooting.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams on new product development opportunities.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Design and develop safety programs for automation systems, including robotics.
  • Review and validate safety performance levels of control systems.
  • Provide technical recommendations for seamless integration of third-party equipment.

Essential Skills

  • Proficiency in PLC programming, AutoCAD, HMI, and controls.
  • At least 3 years of experience in industrial automation manufacturing.
  • Degree in Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
  • Knowledge of NFPA, UL, and NEC standards.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication skills.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience with CAD software such as EPLAN or AutoCAD Electrical.
  • Familiarity with automation and control systems, including PLCs, HMIs, and industrial communication protocols.
  • Ability to perform functional testing, troubleshooting, and debugging of electrical systems.

Job Type & Location

This is a Permanent position based out of Montgomery, Alabama.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $85000.00 - $95000.00/yr.
