Senior Electrical Engineer

The Senior Electrical Engineer is a crucial member of our multidisciplinary engineering team, reporting directly to the Director of Engineering. This role is primarily responsible for researching, planning, designing, implementing, checking, and executing electrical engineering activities. The Senior Electrical Engineer ensures that electrical system designs have appropriate analytical verification, product-level validation, and field testing. Additionally, the role involves documenting work products such as technical notes, procedures, manuals, bills of materials, and design specifications. Collaborating with other engineers, shop technicians, and service technicians, this position fosters a creative and cohesive workplace that values speed and quality in work produced.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop electrical design, schematics, and drawings in AutoCAD Electrical.
  • Create Back Panel Layouts.
  • Interpret mechanical design drawings for electrical requirements using tools like SolidEdge and AutoCAD.
  • Research supplier products for assembly components.
  • Design and develop electrical systems for new orders, improvements to existing designs, or new product development.
  • Establish and maintain standards such as UL 508a, NEC, NFPA 86, SIL safety, and Machine Safety (ISO).
  • Develop electrical bills of materials.
  • Power up electrical systems and configure hardware according to application specifications.
  • Check the quality of assemblers and technicians' work and respond to inquiries during assembly.
  • Collaborate with Sales Engineers to provide input for quote preparation as needed.
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose problems with malfunctioning equipment using proper tools and testing apparatus.
  • Participate in requirement reviews and work with Systems Engineering to ensure proper implementation of features.

Essential Skills:

  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) or a related discipline.
  • 5–7 years of relevant industry experience.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD Electrical design and drafting tools.
  • Strong experience in PLC programming, including developing custom programs from baseline and programming with ladder logic and structured text.
  • Hands-on experience with Allen-Bradley PLCs and familiarity with Schneider Electric systems.
  • Solid understanding of high voltage systems, including 3-phase power.
  • Skilled in creating electrical schematics and Bills of Materials (BOMs).

Additional Skills & Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) and general computer literacy.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.

  • Creative thinker, results-oriented, and attentive to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to prioritize, multi-task, and meet deadlines.
  • Sharp, quick, dedicated, and innovative problem solver.
  • Organized and detail-oriented with the ability to think designs through completely.
  • UL 508a MTR knowledge is a plus.

Work Environment:

The position is fully onsite with working hours from Monday to Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM. The work environment involves spending 60% of the time at the desk and 40% hands-on, evaluating and troubleshooting. Benefits include a 10% annual bonus, 3% 401k match, 8 holidays, and 2 weeks of PTO to start.

Pay and Benefits:

The pay range for this position is $50.00 - $57.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment. Benefits are subject to change and may be subject to specific elections, plan, or program terms.
