Controls Engineer
The Controls Engineer is responsible for designing and coordinating the control and electrical functions associated with the concept, design, detail, assembly, and debugging of both standard and custom equipment.
Responsibilities
- Prepare electrical schematics.
- Design electrical panel layouts and create electrical parts lists for custom and standard products as assigned.
- Program PLC equipment, including design and documentation of PLC programs.
- Program operator interfaces and ensure effective communication with internal staff, customers, and vendors.
- Provide follow-up service for machinery at customer locations, assist with installation, and offer customer training. This may require domestic or international travel.
- Assist with wiring, cable routing, marking, and inspection of machinery in the assembly department.
- Commission electrical components and machine functions during the assembly portion of assigned projects.
- Maintain professional customer relations to ensure customer satisfaction with our products.
Essential Skills
- Proficiency in Allen Bradley PLC and PLC programming.
- Experience with automation and controls engineering.
- Strong skills in electrical design and control panels using AutoCAD Electrical.
- Knowledge of motion control and vision systems.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degree with 6+ years of experience or equivalent experience.
- 3+ years of experience in electrical design, schematics, and control panel layout using AutoCAD Electrical.
- 3+ years of experience in PLC programming, particularly with Allen Bradley.
- 3+ years of experience in HMI programming.
- Experience troubleshooting both software and machinery on the production floor.
- Strong customer interfacing abilities.
- Willingness to travel up to 20%.
Work Environment
The position is with a small but growing company of about 50 employees. It is an onsite role that requires time split between office work and floor troubleshooting. The candidate must be willing to travel 20-25% as needed.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $55.00/hr.
