Construction Project Engineer

The role of a Construction Quality Inspector is vital in ensuring that construction projects adhere to plans, specifications, and regulations. The inspector conducts inspections, assesses materials, and documents findings, requiring strong communication and problem-solving skills. This position is crucial for maintaining quality, safety, and compliance throughout the construction process.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct regular site visits to monitor construction progress, ensuring adherence to approved plans, specifications, and relevant codes.
  • Evaluate the quality and suitability of construction materials, including concrete, steel, and other components.
  • Verify compliance with safety regulations, building codes, and environmental standards.
  • Maintain detailed records of inspections, including photographs, reports, and test results.
  • Prepare comprehensive reports detailing inspection findings, including any deviations or non-conformances.
  • Communicate effectively with contractors, engineers, project managers, and other stakeholders regarding inspection results and necessary corrective actions.
  • Identify potential issues and collaborate with project teams to develop effective solutions.
  • Conduct or oversee field and laboratory tests on materials to assess their quality and performance.

Essential Skills:

  • Understanding of construction methods, materials, and relevant codes and standards.
  • Meticulous approach to inspections and documentation.
  • Ability to clearly communicate findings and recommendations to various stakeholders.
  • Ability to identify issues and contribute to solutions.
  • Proficiency in using tools for measurement and inspection, such as calipers, micrometers, and testing equipment.
  • Thorough understanding of safety protocols and regulations.

Additional Skills & Qualifications:

  • 8-10 years of experience in construction or quality control.
  • High school diploma or equivalent is typically required.
  • Prefer a degree or certification in construction management, engineering, or a related field, or sufficient experience.

Work Environment:

The position is 100% onsite in Boydton, VA, with work settings including construction sites, laboratories, offices, and project meetings.

Job Type & Location:

This is a Contract position based out of Boydton, VA.

Pay and Benefits:

The pay range for this position is $64.00 - $74.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
