Commissioning Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled Commissioning Engineer to plan, coordinate, and document all commissioning activities for various utility substation protection, control, and power circuits. This role requires adherence to project requirements, budgets, and schedules, with a focus on comprehensive testing and analysis.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, coordinate, and document all commissioning activities, including pre-commissioning, construction, testing, commissioning, energization, and project close-out.
  • Review wiring diagrams, schematics, and engineering documents prior to project commencement and during outages.
  • Perform troubleshooting and problem analysis related to protection and control systems and utility substation equipment.
  • Participate in project meetings, including kickoff, planning, progress, and lessons learned sessions.
  • Prepare detailed daily, weekly, and project completion reports, documenting progress, issues, recommendations, and test results.
  • Assist in developing project-specific testing and commissioning plans and documentation.
  • Identify risks and develop mitigation techniques for utility systems and equipment.
  • Ensure all applicable tests and commissioning activities are conducted on equipment and systems, and that results are recorded, filed, and distributed appropriately.
  • Develop and review detailed test reports for various electrical equipment.
  • Develop a Site Risk Assessment to document high-risk construction and commissioning activities.

Essential Skills

  • 4 years of utility commissioning experience.
  • Experience with relay, protection and control, and apparatus testing.
  • Electrical engineering degree or background.
  • Valid driver's license in good standing.
  • Willingness to travel and work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience with testing and commissioning services, preferably in electric utilities.
  • Ability to read and understand construction and manufacturer's drawings, specifications, and schematic diagrams.
  • Strong knowledge of or ability to learn electrical protection systems, relay communication, and AC/DC schematics.
  • Professional experience with medium and high voltage substation and power plant equipment.
  • Experience with Doble Protection Suite, ProTest, SEL AcSELerator is highly preferred.

Work Environment

This is a 100% field position, primarily supporting operations between PA and OH, with potential involvement in other regions. The role involves flexible working hours, including weekends and holidays, and requires travel for extended periods. The position offers top-notch training opportunities at a dedicated facility.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of Lancaster, PA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $50.00 - $60.00/hr.
