Civil Transportation Engineer - Open to EIT or PE Level

Our client is seeking a dedicated Civil Transportation Engineer to join their team, working closely with Senior Project Managers on municipal and other public work projects. This role offers the flexibility to evolve into a Project Management position or remain focused on production tasks. While a Professional Engineer (PE) license is not required initially, candidates aiming for a Project Management role must possess or be willing to pursue their PE license.

This role offers a unique chance to be deeply involved in civil engineering projects from start to finish. Unlike larger firms where responsibilities are often segmented, this position allows professionals to engage in all phases of a project, gaining comprehensive experience and ownership.

Responsibilities

• Perform quantity calculations and design computations.
• Execute geometric design of transportation infrastructure.
• Engage in roadway design and adhere to INDOT processes and procedures.
• Design traffic signals and lighting systems.
• Conduct drainage design, including pipe sizing, inlet spacing, culvert design, and permitting.
• Coordinate with utility services.
• Monitor construction for compliance with contract documents and approved submissions.
• Record field observations and verify contractor's quality control.
• Make field measurements and maintain project records as per established standards.

Essential Skills

• Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from an accredited institution.
• Minimum of 4 years' experience in transportation engineering.
• Ability to obtain PE license within a year, with preference for candidates already possessing a PE.
• Proficiency in Civil 3D, stormwater management, drainage systems, and roadway design.
• Experience with project management in civil engineering design.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Proficiency in AutoCAD and Civil 3D.
• Familiarity with local and state government regulations and standards.

The role is based in a small, casual office located in a nice office suite in downtown Indianapolis. Our team consists of a tight-knit group of professionals dedicated to a variety of transportation, stormwater, and construction inspection projects across Indiana. The environment is relaxed but focused on meeting project deadlines. Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Indianapolis, Indiana.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $43.27 - $72.12/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
