Senior Civil Engineering Project Manager – Southern California Expansion

We are seeking a strategic and entrepreneurial Engineering Project Manager to lead the launch and growth of our Southern California operations. This is a high-impact opportunity to establish a new regional office, build a team, and drive business development in a dynamic market. Location Greater Los Angeles or Orange County preferred Initially remote; transition to hybrid as the office grows.

Title: Engineering Project Manager

Type: Full-time, professional-level

Salary Range: $130K–$175K (up to $200K for senior PMs)

Reporting: Initially to a Director or VP in NorCal HQ

Core Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage a design team of up to six members
  • Oversee grading, stormwater, and utility plans (not hands-on design)
  • Manage project scopes, budgets, schedules, QA/QC, and compliance
  • Maintain and grow client relationships; pursue new business development opportunities
  • Interface with agencies such as LA County, Caltrans, City of LA, and OC Fire Authority
  • Assist Bay Area teams on projects until the SoCal pipeline is established

Technical Expectations

  • AutoCAD Civil 3D proficiency preferred (oversight, not daily use)
  • Bluebeam experience strongly preferred
  • Familiarity with Liquid Planner and Ajera (not mandatory)
  • PMs are responsible for high-level QA/QC and client communication

Project Types

  • Residential (market-rate, affordable, mixed-use)

  • Academic & healthcare (schools, hospitals)
  • Public works (parks, roads, stormwater systems)

Professional Requirements

  • PE license in California preferred (flexible if actively pursuing)
  • 8+ years in civil engineering, with 5+ years as a PM in land development
  • Strong understanding of grading, drainage, stormwater, and utility plans
  • Proven business development experience and established client relationships in Southern California
