Senior Civil Engineer II (Federal)
As a Senior Civil Engineer II, you will be responsible for executing and overseeing civil engineering tasks on multi-discipline building design projects ranging from moderate to large scope, as well as projects dedicated solely to civil engineering. Experience with federal projects, particularly those involving NAFAC and DOD, is highly desirable.
Responsibilities
- Lead and perform civil engineering duties on diverse building design projects.
- Utilize AutoCAD Civil 3D and stormwater modeling programs such as PondPack and SewerGEMS.
- Work collaboratively within a civil or multi-discipline A/E firm.
- Ensure compliance with federal project requirements, especially for NAFAC and DOD clients.
Essential Skills
- Graduation from an ABET-accredited engineering program in civil engineering.
- Minimum of 5 years in a leadership role within a civil or multi-discipline A/E firm.
- Proven experience with federal projects, particularly NAFAC and DOD work.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in at least one U.S. state, preferably local jurisdiction, or ability to obtain PE.
- Understanding of sustainable design principles; LEED AP preferred.
- Additional certifications such as CDT, CCS, or CCCA are encouraged.
- Active involvement in professional organizations like ASCE.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Effective presentation skills.
- Proactive and collaborative attitude with commitment to quality service and continuous professional growth.
- Ability to mentor junior staff and lead by example.
Work Environment
The work environment is primarily sedentary and conducted in an office setting that is well-lit, heated, and ventilated. This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Virginia Beach, Virginia.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $43.00 - $60.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
