Senior Civil Engineer

Position Overview

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Civil Engineer to provide owner-side oversight and technical leadership during the early works phase of a major greenfield industrial development. This role is critical to ensuring that civil design and construction activities are executed efficiently, cost-effectively, and in alignment with project objectives, timelines, and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Review and provide technical input on civil design packages including roads, stormwater systems, ponds, and underground utilities.
• Ensure designs are practical, constructible, and aligned with site conditions and operational needs.

Site Development Leadership

• Lead planning and execution of early works including grading, access roads, drainage, and temporary infrastructure.
• Apply geotechnical findings to inform design and construction strategies.

Cost and Schedule Optimization

• Recommend cost-effective construction methods and value engineering opportunities.
• Monitor consultant scope and deliverables to prevent scope creep.

Documentation and Quality Control

• Validate technical documentation for compliance with codes, standards, and permitting conditions.

Field Supervision and Coordination

• Provide on-site technical support during construction.
• Coordinate with contractors, consultants, and internal stakeholders to resolve field issues.

Required Qualifications

• P.Eng designation in Ontario
• 15+ years of total civil engineering experience
• Proven ability to guide design teams and review work of general contractors and consultants
• Strong understanding of:
  • Piling methods, pile testing, and piling designs
  • Pond water and stormwater system design
  • Sewage systems and underground piping construction

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in greenfield site development from start to finish
• Experience working on the owner's side (owner's engineering)
• Familiarity with document control and management systems
• Exposure to AutoPlant 3D or similar 3D modeling software
• Foundational design experience

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $60.00 - $85.00/hr.
