Chemical Engineer

The Chemical Engineer will lead process optimization and continuous improvement for powder blending, tablet forming, and related manufacturing operations. This role focuses on improving equipment performance, executing Six Sigma projects, validating processes, and driving data-based decisions to enhance efficiency, quality, and throughput. The Chemical Engineer will work closely with production, quality, and operations teams to develop robust procedures, conduct investigations, and support the growth and expansion of the facility.

Responsibilities

  • Optimize powder blending, tablet forming, and associated manufacturing equipment to improve efficiency, throughput, and consistency.
  • Lead and execute Six Sigma and other continuous improvement projects to reduce variability, waste, and process issues.
  • Plan, perform, and document process validations for equipment and manufacturing processes, making necessary changes to improve performance and compliance.
  • Conduct root cause analyses (RCAs) and other investigations to identify process and equipment issues, implement corrective actions, and prevent recurrence.
  • Perform and support internal and external audits, as well as quality and process investigations, to ensure adherence to standards and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Develop, write, review, and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) for all steps of the production process.
  • Train production and operations personnel on SOPs, process changes, and best practices, ensuring clear understanding of their roles in the manufacturing process.
  • Perform risk assessments on processes and equipment to identify potential issues and recommend mitigation strategies.
  • Collect, analyze, and interpret production and process data using ERP systems, Minitab, and other data analytics tools.
  • Prepare and present clear data-driven reports, findings, and recommendations to cross-functional teams and leadership.
  • Support corrective actions and process changes across the facility, collaborating with team members in production, quality, and engineering.
  • Work with refurbished and existing equipment to optimize performance, reliability, and product quality.
  • Understand and support all aspects of the manufacturing process for powder products, including food, chemical, or pharmaceutical processes as applicable.

Essential Skills

  • Experience in process optimization within food, chemical, pharmaceutical, or powder product manufacturing environments.
  • Hands-on experience with process engineering or chemical engineering in a production setting.
  • Proficiency in leading or supporting Six Sigma projects and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Strong background in root cause analysis (RCA) and implementing corrective and preventive actions.
  • Experience conducting process validations and documenting validation activities.
  • Ability to perform and support quality or process investigations and audits (internal and/or external).
  • Proven capability in developing, reviewing, and maintaining standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Experience in training personnel on processes, procedures, and process changes.
  • Strong data analytics skills, including the ability to work with large sets of production data.
  • Proficiency with Minitab or similar statistical analysis software.
  • Experience using ERP systems for data collection, analysis, and reporting.
  • Ability to communicate technical information clearly and present findings to cross-functional teams.
  • Background in chemical process, food process, pharmaceutical process, or powder product processes.
  • Ability to conduct risk assessments related to processes and equipment.
  • Bilingual ability in Spanish to support communication and training across teams.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Degree or formal education in chemical engineering, process engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience working specifically with powder products in a manufacturing environment.
  • Familiarity with quality systems and regulatory expectations in food, chemical, or pharmaceutical industries.
  • Experience supporting facility growth, equipment upgrades, or expansion projects.
  • Strong collaboration skills and the ability to work effectively with production, quality, and engineering teams.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and improvement initiatives simultaneously.
  • Comfort presenting data and recommendations to various stakeholders, including production teams and leadership.

Work Environment

This is a first-shift position, Monday through Friday, typically working from 7:00 a.m. to approximately 3:30–4:30 p.m. The role involves working across multiple areas of the facility, including the office, laboratory, and production floor. The Chemical Engineer will work directly with powdered products and will be regularly present on the production floor to observe processes, support troubleshooting, and collaborate with operators. The work environment is highly collaborative, with frequent interaction and teamwork across all departments to implement corrective actions, process changes, and training. The facility is in a growth phase, offering opportunities to contribute to site expansion and to participate in a variety of engaging, hands-on projects.

Job Type & Location

This is a Permanent position based out of Kenosha, WI.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $80000.00 - $110000.00/yr. Company provides health insurance, dental insurance, and vision insurance. They offer a 5% yearly bonus (paid in April of 2027), $75 cell phone reimbursement, three weeks of PTO, five sick days, and paid holidays.
