Building Automation Engineer

We are seeking a skilled Building Automation/Software Engineer to design and develop control software for building automation systems. You will translate sequences of operations into robust, scalable code and program in Script, Function Block, and other automation languages to deliver high-performance solutions. You will work with platforms like Tridium Niagara and EcoStruxure to build and customize control systems, while collaborating with cross-functional teams and customers to ensure alignment and excellence.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop control software for building automation systems.
  • Translate sequences of operations into robust, scalable code.
  • Program in Script, Function Block, and other automation languages.
  • Work with platforms like Tridium Niagara and EcoStruxure.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and customers.
  • Commission and troubleshoot systems for optimal performance and energy efficiency.
  • Create intuitive front-end graphics and user interfaces for building operators.
  • Conduct peer code reviews and contribute to the continuous improvement of software standards.
  • Support sustainability and energy strategies through smart automation.

Essential Skills:

  • MUST HAVE 3+ years of experience in building automation and controls programming.
  • Strong proficiency in programming languages such as Python, C#, and Function Block.
  • Hands-on experience with DDC systems, HVAC controls, and environmental automation.
  • Familiarity with Tridium Niagara and/or EcoStruxure.
  • Excellent communication skills and a collaborative mindset.

Additional Skills & Qualifications:

  • MUST HAVE experience with building automation systems and controls.
  • Proficiency in software programming and network connectivity.

Work Environment:

The position involves managing a team of building automation software engineers focused on BMS, security systems, power, and environmental projects. You will spend 5% of the time traveling to different customer sites around the Chicago area for meetings, with mileage, parking, and tolls reimbursed. Initially, work will require office presence, transitioning to a remote option once acclimated. The company policy mandates office attendance two days a week, with flexibility for full remote work if needed. Annual travel for training to locations like Andover, Dallas, Houston, or Nashville may be required. All employees must complete mandatory OSHA and CPR training annually to comply with health and safety policies.

Pay and Benefits:
