Automation Engineer
Join a dynamic team as an Automation Engineer where you will play a pivotal role in advancing warehouse automation systems. You will work on high-visibility projects that are integral to the future of warehouse technology, particularly in the growing Raleigh market.
Responsibilities:
- Program and debug PLCs, with a preference for Siemens S7-1500, used in warehouse automation systems.
- Utilize working knowledge of commercial or custom WCS platforms like Dematic iQ, Honeywell Intelligrated Momentum, and Swisslog SynQ.
- Analyze bottlenecks or inefficiencies within the WCS system, addressing delays and process misalignments.
- Debug task execution problems sent from EWM to the WCS or automation systems, ensuring proper routing of warehouse orders.
- Engage in end-to-end testing and commissioning of Siemens PLC automation projects within live warehouse environments tied to SAP EWM.
- Map and translate logical warehouse tasks from WMS/EWM into real-time equipment-level commands executed through the WCS.
- Integrate SAP EWM or other WMS with automated warehouse technologies such as robotics, AS/RS systems, sorters, palletizers, and conveyor systems.
- Integrate automation systems with IT infrastructure, including Active Directory and adhering to cybersecurity best practices.
- Integrate AMRs into warehouse automation systems, enabling real-time communication with WMS/WCS.
- Ensure GxP compliance, particularly Good Automated Manufacturing Practices (GAMP), in regulated environments.
Essential Skills:
- Expertise in PLC programming and debugging.
- Deep understanding of WCS and its integration with WMS and physical warehouse automation.
- Experience with testing and commissioning Siemens PLC projects.
- Experience integrating SAP EWM or other WMS with automated warehouse technologies.
- Strong IT skills, including Active Directory and cybersecurity practices.
Additional Skills & Qualifications:
- Familiarity with automation systems in regulated environments.
- Experience with AMRs and their integration into warehouse systems.
- Knowledge of GxP compliance and Good Automated Manufacturing Practices (GAMP).
- Familiarity with automation, PLC programming, SCADA, and controls engineering.
Work Environment:
The position is within a construction environment supporting a greenfield expansion project. Initial phases involve land grading, with site trailers expected by the middle of next year. This role supports the warehouse and intralogistics project track, offering high visibility and significant opportunities for professional growth in the NC region.

This is a Contract position based out of Clayton, North Carolina.
Pay and Benefits:
The pay range for this position is $65.00 - $65.00/hr.
